lyrics

Lyrics:
I’ve heard tales but I’ve not seen
The way that this place used to be
Wild wolves and crystal streams
The loon cries out into your dreams

The earth rotates and morning comes
You wake up with the rising sun
The day is yours, completely free
That’s the way it used to be

Summer’s end, green to brown
Red and yellow leaves drift down
A swirl of colors in the air
You wonder without a care

Climb the hill in the dark of night
You gaze up at the star-filled sky
Sit and wonder why you’re here
These cosmic questions bring you fear

If you only knew what was coming you’d cry
What was there for years, disappears in the blink of an eye
Hold on to what you love, never give it up
‘Cause my friend change is coming, and they want what you love

What was there for years, disappears in the blink of an eye
Those beautiful deer become penned-up steer living only to die
Those colorful trees replaced by cities that light up the night
You had star-filled eyes, now there’s smog-filled skies
Do we ask is it right?

You held on to what you loved, but they came with guns
You fought them long and hard, but they spilled your blood
And all I want to see is this society
Realize what it’s done
I think we’re starting to
I think we can improve
But what’s gone is gone
